After many Sephora trips, recommendations online and from friends and just straight-up trial and error, I have found 5 beauty products that have changed my life. These products are easy to apply, can be used for day and night and are affordable (can I get an amen?!)
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer: I started using this over 8 years ago and it was the best makeup decision I ever made (for makeup). I don’t use a ton of face makeup, because honestly I am so not a pro and am only confident with the basics, so I love that this two in one product moisturizes/ hydrates and tints at the same time. You can choose a color close to your skin tone for a more natural look or go tanner for a more bronzed, stand out look. I use the color "Sand" for a look that is a little more tan than my natural skin tone. What I also love about this product is that it helps hide discoloration and softens fine, dry lines on your face. Really, it just makes everything a little more even. This gives your face a really nice base for any other products that will follow. Also, it has SPF protection, with an SPF 20. Their tinted moisturizer also comes in Oil Free for those with more oily skin and illuminating for those who want sheer coverage and a more illuminating/ bright look (think highlighter in a tinted moisturizer).
Too Faced Matte Bronzer: This is my go-to everyday bronzer. I love that it gives you a super natural, bronzed look- plus it smells like chocolate (no joke!) The specific version I have does not have any illumination elements in it, so if I’m looking for a bit of sparkle I add illuminating blush and or/ highlighter on top of it.
Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil: Something I didn’t know before, but I am so glad I know now is how important brows are. Nicely shaped and filled in brows can make such a difference. My brows are sparse in some areas, but even for those whose are already full, a good pencil can give your brows an added pop. Same thing with the moisturizer, you can either choose a color to match your brows or you can go a little darker for a more extreme look. Like it says in the name, this pencil is goof proof and so easy to put on.
Mascaras (and lots of them!): When it comes to mascara, I look for quality AND quantity. One of my favorite mascara tricks that I learned from one of my best friends is using multiple types one after another. Sometimes I have one that is amazing for length, but then I need to use another afterwards to add that extra body I’m looking for. There are times where I’ve even used three in one night. Don’t underestimate the benefits of multiple coats. Some of my favorite mascaras right now are (in order from least dramatic to most): tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes, IT Cosmetics Superhero, Lancôme Hyponse Drama. If you decide to try this trick and like it (or don’t) let me know!
Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner: I absolutely love this liner for my evening looks. It’s specifically made for the top and its lash-hugging angled tip lets you get super close to your lashline. You can do a thinner, defined look or a bold, cat eye; however, I would not recommend this liner if you want a minimal, natural look. While it takes a bit of practice to master putting on this liner, once you get it, it gives you an eye line that you can’t get with most other products.
What are your must-have makeup products? Like I said, I often find my favorites by asking others so would love to hear from you.
